And the Winner Is.....

Three artists have won top awards at Coos Art Museum’s 16th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition, they are Austin Dwyer of Mukilteo, Washington who received the “Best of Show Award” for his oil painting “The Whalers,” Harold W. Johnson of SeaTac, Washington who received the “Port Award”, selected by the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, for his oil painting “Tillamook Bay” and Frank Gaffney of Kirkland, Washington who received the “Directors’ Award,” selected by the museum’s Board of Directors, for his oil painting “Nice Row of Seats.”

Tonight's Wine Walk (Friday 7/17) is a great opportunity to see these paintings. Hours of the Wine Walk are 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. (See post below for further information).

Yet to be selected is this year’s “Peoples’ Choice Award”. Visitors to the museum will be able to vote for their favorite work through the end of August, at which time this important honor will be given to the work with the most votes.

The “Best of Show” juror and featured artist of the 16th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition was Buck Braden of Tualatin, Oregon. He commented upon how difficult it was to select only one “Best of Show” from such an outstanding body of works and that many more deserved special recognition. He chose three works to receive “Awards of Merit”:
“Walking Through the Dunes” an oil by Richard Boyer of Salt Lake City, Utah
“Monkey Fist” an oil Jon L. Olson of Seal Beach, California
“Exploring the Pacific” an oil by Grant Saylor of Everett, Washington

Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies a historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay and offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. Hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Museum admission: $5 general, $2 students and seniors, free to museum members.

HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY DONALD DUCK!

Donald Duck, full name Donald Fauntleroy Duck, is celebrating his 75th birthday today. The temperamental sailor duck made his debut in the June 9, 1934 Disney Symphony short titled The Wise Little Hen. There has some been a birthday controversy over the years since a couple of Donald Duck's other roles gives his birthday as Friday, March 13th, an omen perhaps.

Sanitaire Vacuum Cleaner

We thought it would be nice to offer a great deal to our loyal local customers before putting this up on eBay. We recycle our traded in products on eBay every week. The local advantage to living here in the Coos Bay-North Bend area is you get to test the product, see it first and save on shipping when you visit the Electric Hospital.

This is a Eureka Sanitaire S677 vacuum cleaner that was traded in on a new vacuum cleaner.

Our shop, which has over 26 years servicing and repairing vacuum cleaners, did a complete service on this one. It is in excellent shape. It is hard to tell it from a new one looking at it. It has a new inner bag and belt in it. This vacuum cleaner looks and performs like new.

The original owner had it for a little over a year and said they used it maybe 10 times.

The bag used by this vacuum is a special bag which has Arm & Hammer baking soda in it for odor control.

It also has allergen capturing filtration to filter out all those pesky dust mites, mold, and bacteria.

The outer bag is also an allergen capturing bag.

You can always tell how much a vacuum cleaner has been used by how the brush roll looks. You can see that this one looks like it is new.

The Eureka S677 uses the Vibra Groomer I brush roll, which actually pulls 40% more air than a regular round brush roll. The clear fan chamber is a must have for the janitorial and restaurant business.

These vacuums have a list price of $399, but we are offering this one of a kind commercial vacuum for a great, low price of $215. Just be the first to mention or print this promotion to get it at the special price.

You can come into our shop at The Electric Hospital, 988 S Broadway, Coos Bay, OR and take it for a test drive, or give us a call at 267-2241 for more information. See for yourself how nice this one is!

We are so sure this vacuum cleaner is like new, we are offering a 1-year, household warranty with it (90 days for commercial use).

Photo Exhibit Opening at Coos Art Museum

The opening reception for the Oregon Coast Photographers’ Association Exhibition will take place at Coos Art Museum Friday, May 29 from 5 to 7 pm. The event is free, all are invited to attend.

The works on display are predominantly of scenic nature but still life and the man-made world are also represented. Both color and black and white imagery are included. The OCPA consists of photographers both professional and amateur from the southern Oregon Coast. Members work in a wide range of techniques from traditional film through digital technology.

Also at CAM through June 27 is Expressions West 2009 a juried exhibit of paintings by artists residing in Arizona, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies a historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay and offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. CAM is on Anderson St, just a couple blocks from Art Connection.

I like to take pictures of our area this is a slide show of a canoe event held at the Mill Casino. This is a real working waterfront with deep water sailors and large ships. I really enjoyed the head canoes and first nation paddlers sharing their skills and heritage. Don't miss this annual event every summer.

We sell it for you on eBay

We use eBay to recycle items so they do not end up in our landfill. To make it easy to find our items on eBay we put a secret code in the title, "ELEHOSP." These are the first letters of the name of our store, Electric Hospital.

This is also the letters you would dial to contact us with our toll free number. (1-800-ELE-HOSP or 1-800-353-4677). Now you know our little secret you can find all our listings on eBay.

Or you can just click this link to our Electric Hospital eBay store.

We sell items for others that need a listing assistant to take the pictures write the ad copy create the background answer the hundreds of questions pack and ship the product for 25%.

EBay is an unusual place to market it has 50 millions sales every day. There is quite a learning curve to maximize the return on eBay. We have figured out how to make money in this market. It is hard honorable work and the honor is a big part of what makes it work. The rave feedback we get from our customers insures people we take care of them. This 100% rating along with thousands of sales since 2002 builds confidence and makes buyers comfortable bidding higher.

This week we have listed some exciting items like the Cat Dog Vacuum cleaner click the link to see it.

We start many of these auctions at ninety nine cents with no reserve. That means someone will own a vacuum at a very good price. If you are local you have a $30 advantage because you can avoid the shipping charges by picking it up at the Electric Hospital at 988 S. Broadway, Coos Bay, OR 97420.

We also have an antique radio like your great grandparents may have had in the 1930's. You may have remembered these, it looks like the radio on the Walton's TV show.
Click the link to see the Zenith Vintage Radio.
